A new version of Fieldworker has arrived, and it focuses on three things: getting started with the app faster, handling jobs more comfortably and better access to information in the field.
This is not an update for the sake of an update. The point of the changes was to simplify the daily work of dispatchers, coordinators and technicians. Less clicking, less waiting and more information available immediately, right where it is needed.
First-run setup wizard
The first big change is the new first-run setup wizard.
After creating an account, the user goes through a simple five-step wizard that helps prepare the system for work. Along the way you can set your company details, add a logo, choose your industry and define job types.
As a result, a new account does not start from an empty screen and does not require everything to be configured manually from scratch.
On top of that, the final step lets you load demonstration data. This is particularly useful for people who want to see what working in Fieldworker looks like first, using sample customers, equipment and jobs.
The demo data can be removed later with a single click, so you can test the system without any risk of cluttering up your real account.
What does that give you in practice?
A new user understands how Fieldworker works sooner. Instead of looking at an empty application, they immediately see an example of how the work is structured: customers, sites, equipment and jobs.
The job list is considerably faster
The second important change concerns the job list.
We have rebuilt the way data is fetched, so the job list now loads much faster, especially over larger date ranges.
In our tests the list sped up by as much as 7–8 times. For example:
| Data range | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| about 1 month, 130 jobs | 3.0 s | 0.4 s |
| about 6 months, 700 jobs | 3.2 s | 0.4 s |
For the user that means one thing: less waiting.
A dispatcher can browse jobs, change date ranges, filter data and look for the information they need faster. That matters especially in companies working with a high volume of requests every day.
The job list remembers your filters
The next change looks small but makes a real difference day to day.
Fieldworker now remembers your job list settings: filters, sorting, page number, column order and column visibility.
If you set the view up to match the way you work, you will see exactly the same layout when you come back to the list.
So there is no need to set the same filters again every morning.
And if you want to get back to a clean view, there is a “Clear filters” button that resets the settings.
Custom equipment fields without opening the job
The job list has also gained a new column with additional information about equipment.
If the main custom fields for a piece of equipment are flagged in the system, Fieldworker can show them directly in the job list.
For example:
Pump P-12 — Serial number: 12345, Certification date: 2026-08-12
This is extremely practical in companies servicing equipment where quick access to a serial number, an inspection date, a certification date or another key field has operational value.
You no longer have to open the job details every time just to check the most important information about a unit.
Search covers equipment fields too
The changes to the job list also extend to search.
You can now search for jobs by the custom fields of equipment. If you type in a serial number, for instance, the system will find the job that unit is linked to.
That speeds things up particularly when a customer rings, quotes their equipment number, and the dispatcher needs to find the history or the current job quickly.
What do these changes mean for service companies?
This Fieldworker update is aimed squarely at everyday convenience.
The main benefits are:
- faster onboarding for new users,
- easier testing of the system thanks to demonstration data,
- a considerably faster job list,
- less repetitive clicking now that filters are remembered,
- better access to information about equipment,
- more convenient searching by serial numbers and custom fields,
- more information for the technician in the mobile app.
In practice that means smoother handling of requests, both in the office and out in the field.
Summary
The new version of Fieldworker is a step towards working with the system even faster and more comfortably.
We have simplified the start for new users, sped up the job list, added a remembered view and expanded the information visible in the list and in the mobile app.
If you already use Fieldworker, it is worth exploring the new options in your own account. And if you are only just getting to know the system, the new first-run wizard will show you sooner how Fieldworker can put your service operation in order.
